Perovskite solar cells – Promises and expectations for the third-generation PV technology

Since their invention 10 years ago, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have shown a dramatic increase in conversion efficiency compared with other so-called third-generation solar cells. In 2018, some laboratory tests found that a single-junction PSC cell could reach up to 23% efficiency. Its technology has benefited from developments carried out for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) and organic solar cells (OSC), also called organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells.
