On 31 January 2017, Germany’s Federal Grid Agency published that 441 MW of PV capacity were registered in December 2016. The main reason for the 140% month-on-month growth was the possibility to install landfill projects outside the tender scheme until the end of 2016. This brings the total added PV generation capacity in 2016 to 1.5 GW, and means that the FiT rate will be left unchanged. As for tender projects, the first round in 2017 was concluded on 8 February, and awarded 200 MW at prices as low as EUR60/MWh.
